Post occupancy evaluation (POE) is the process of obtaining information on a building’s performance in use after occupancy. This paper reviews functional quality of Academic Center and Fundamentals Learning Building at Khon Kaen University, in which the investigation of the functional quality is a part of the POE aspects. A set of walkthrough surveys were conducted during the business hours and non-business hours. The information was collected by taking photos and taking notes. The study provides data to help understand how the building is performing compared to its design intention. The results suggest that building functions changed according to the occupants i.e., motorcycle parking, food stalls, building service areas, and some areas of the hall. It has been found that some building spaces have been occupied in a different way to its purposes. The final section introduces design checklists. With this suggested checklist, architects and building owners to make decisions on that new building design and address the issues to propose the renovation on the building accordingly. The information from this study can be used for informing policy makers and designer to better align users’ needs with building design.
