The Creation of printmaking works of art simplicity in a way of life through the
Mokulito printmaking technique aims to 1) To study and collect information on the process
of Mokulito technique 2)To create contemporary printmaking artworks concept of The
simplicity of life through Mokulito printing techniques creation of printed material to be more
technically diverse and provide more guidance for those interested in these print techniques. This research was conducted from a conceptual perspective. The research also is
focusing on explaining the history of technique and the creative process. The researcher
wanted to convey the story of a simple life, living conditions, and the livelihoods of people
that researcher has seen regularly in everyday life. Whether it is from Thailand or China
where the researcher had lived for the past 7 years, and convey the way of living and the
feeling of living on the bank of the river with familiar images. The researcher also brough
out some simple thing that was always overlooked because of the habit but actually has a
hidden beauty behind it by making the picture that can become a special perspective.
Even though there is no life in the picture but it is actually the researcher intention to convey
the feeling through the printmaking. If you pay attention to it, it gives you the feeling that
everything is living. Each picture can tell a story by itself. For example, in some photos it
might give the impression of someone is paddling; a boat noodle vendor is stirring and
blanching the noodles with hungry customers; some ships are waiting for the crew to take
them back across the coast. Using the Mokulito technique or Woodcut on Lithograph, the
researcher intended to define the shadows and atmospheres in artworks, and tried to
achieve the details that are most close to reality. The other reasons for choosing the Mokulito technique is the materials and types of equipment used in this technique are more favorable in achieving the desired outcomes. Also, the Transportation and availability of materials were difficult. Therefore, the researcher chose this technique and related material to suit the area where the researchers have lived. The equipment and materials that are
difficult to buy in other techniques were readily available for the artist. The Mokulito process
is based on wood materials, where the surface of the wood can respond very well to the
emotions of the artist. The researcher was very satisfied with the outcome because this
technique was very successful in depicting things about the way of life in the artworks. The
textures in the artworks create a sense of harmony because of the feeling of naturalness of
the wooden textures reflected very well in the final prints. It coordinates to the surface with
actual wooden textures and in a way easier to get connected to this series of “The simplicity of life” is harmoniously combined with the same notion, to keep the feeling of realness,
natural reality, and the true nature of things around. The researcher found this technique to
be best suited for creative printmaking and the outcomes very well show the success of the
Mokulito printing process Mokulito printmaking can be practiced as an alternative technique by artists or individuals who love the art of printmaking but do not have enough
space and lack the availability of materials to work.
