The study of Thai Traditional Dance and Music Administration and Management in Pattaya

Abstract

The study of Thai Traditional Dance and Music Administration and Management in Pattaya aims at investigating history of Ruen Thai restaurant in Pattaya, Chonburi and studying administrative form of traditional dance and music at the venue. Qualitative research method was applied in this study by data gathering from interviewing experts and field studies.

The study has found that Ruen Thai restaurant was open in 1980 and was owned by Miss Naowarat Kha-khai until its closure in 2019. Born in Pattaya, Naowarat works in fishery and commerce and is interested in restaurant business with Thai traditional dance and music entertainment for travelers to Pattaya. In later years, with business reputation, Naowarat was elected President of Pattaya’s Cultural Council.

Performing art shows at Ruen Thai restaurant was managed by dividing into two sectors, the dance was directed by Ana Bunchu and the music was directed by Datsakorn Kaewchaem. Wages for dancers and musicians were paid monthly. Shows were on stage during 7 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. Repertoires were Ram Sat Chatree, Rabam Borankhadee, Rabam Kritdaphinihan, Fan Dap, Ram Phuenmueng Si Phak, and Khon.
