Digital art creations "Ratchathani Sriwanalai" by Mixed Reality Technology

Abstract

This article based on concepts related to the creation of digital art from the candle festival cultural capital of Ubon Ratchathani Province using virtual reality technology VR (Virtual Reality) and augmented reality technology AR (Augmented Reality) through the perception of the audience through a multi-sensory approach, including vision, hearing and sensory response to relational aesthetics. The researcher studied collect information from field, visits and interview with experts, philosophers and candle-makers then analyze the data and synthesized to create a digital art called "Ratchathani Sriwanalai" with media technology, a virtual world that combines Mixed Media Reality in 2 parts, namely the exhibition part using VR (Virtual Reality) technology, the audience will enter to see the giant candle sculptures for the first time and audience can choose to go left or right first. Various points are viewed through a device called Oculus glasses, and when you get to this point, this part of the exhibition using AR (Augmented Reality) augmented reality technology, more fun from using a mobile phone or android device to scan the works by exhibiting at the Thung Si Muang courtyard, Mueang District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The results showed that the target group was satisfied with the digital art exhibition "Ratchathani Sriwanalai" is at the highest level. There is an average level of perception was as high as 4.7 while the evaluation of digital art creations was found that the target group had an average perception of all issues at 4.23. The digital art creations “Ratchathani Sriwanalai" can be considered as an activity that uses digital media that helps Ubon Ratchathani province promoting to become a digital city. It creates a memory of a modern city that inserts the story of the candle parade tradition which is the heritage of the people of Ubon Ratchathani Province, together with contemporary art and can continue to expand to the international level.
