The Development of C Programming Language on Windows Operating System Practice Sets on Data Structures and Algorithms

Abstract

        The purposes of this research were (1) to develop C Programming Language for Windows Operating System practice sets on Data Structures and Algorithms; (2) to study the achievement of the students; and (3) to study students’ satisfaction on the practice sets. The sample comprised 23 undergraduate students studying in the Bachelor of Business Administration Program, specializing in Business Computer, Faculty of Management at Suan Dusit University, Trang Center. The research instruments consisted of (1) Dev C++ version 4.9.9.2 as a development tool; (2) C Programming Language for Windows Operating System Practice Sets; and  (3) data collecting which were a quality assessment form, a pre-test and a post-test before and after using the practice sets, and a satisfaction evaluation form. The statistics employed for data analysis were the mean, and standard deviation. The results were as follows:

1. The C Programming Language for Windows Operating System practice sets on data structures and algorithms included 7 practice sets. The developed practice sets were efficient at 75.65 / 76.09 based on the pre-determined 80/80 efficiency criterion, thus they were appropriate for using as a research tool.


2. The students’ post-learning achievement was higher than their pre-learning counterpart achievement.

       3. Regarding students’ satisfaction, it was found that the students’ satisfaction on the practice sets was at the high level.  Concerning individual aspect of the practice sets, it could be ranged 
           from the highest to the lowest as follows: the content scored 4.19 with standard deviation of 0.62, the teaching methods scored 4.16 with standard deviation of 0.63, and the knowledge and
          understanding scored 3.94 with standard deviation of 0.52 respectively
