Retirement Preparation for The Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand Limited Officers: A study for grounded theory

Abstract

          The Objectives of this research were to study (1) various benefits that retirees of the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand Limited would be given (2) preparation for economic and social aspects after retirement of the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand Limited officers.

         This qualitative research aimed to study grounded theory model by using focus group discussion. Those who joined the focus group discussion were 10 officers of the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand Limited aged 55 years and over. During the discussion, voice recorder was used together with action observation. Documentary analysis, related research literature review, data analysis were interpreted as well as theoretical sampling with prescribed characteristics so as to find various benefits gained after retirement. Economic aspects preparation, dwelling, health, free time spending and family and social aspect were studied the following procedure : 1) related research literature review 2) research methodology comprised of research design, research limitation, data providers and research tools 3) data analysis by the summary of focus group discussion.

         The results showed that 1) most of the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand Limited officers understood the preparation for retirement. Only a few of them who were well founded that did not feel the necessity of retirement preparation. 2) five aspects that the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand Limited officers were well prepared were economic, dwelling, health, free time spending and family and social. When these aspects were ranked, it was found that health was the highest problem, economic problem was moderate and dwelling was the lowest problem. 3) Suggestions for the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Thailand Limited from the focus group discussion were to produce guidelines for retirement preparation, to set up exercise for health project, training course on occupation after retirement and loan for part time self-employment project.
