A Study of the Textbook Quality for the Course of Technology for Product and Process Design in Industry Based on the Thailand Qualifications Framework

Abstract

           The objectives of the research entitled “ A Study of Textbook Quality for the Course of Technology for Product and Process Design in Industry Based on the Thailand Qualifications Framework” were to; 1) study the students’ satisfaction towards textbook quality for the course of Technology for Product and Process Design in Industry based on the Thailand Qualifications Framework 2) study the students’ satisfaction towards quality of  pre-post self-assessment tests in the course of Technology for Product and Process Design in Industry based on the Thailand Qualifications Framework. The sample of the study consisted of 122 Sukhothai Thammathirat  Open University (STOU) students  who enrolled in the course in the second semester of the 2012 academic year. The instrument used in the study was a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by using  frequency, percentage, and mean.   

           Regarding to textbook quality,  the majority of the students reported high levels of satisfaction in every aspect such as, linkage of course contents, desired objectives, and course description, correctness and up-to-dateness of the subject matters, suitability of the organization of contents, appropriateness of the contents to the level of the students, time allotment for learning each unit, etc. Moreover, the majority of the students had high satisfaction in all aspects of the assignments and the pre-post self-assessment methods, as the students viewed that these enhanced their understanding of the course contents, enabled them to evaluate their learning, helped them solve the problems, and created cooperation among students, etc.
