THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEANING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON THE NETWORKS AT THE BASIC EDUCATION LEVEL

Abstract

               The purposes of this study were to (1) develop Learning Management System (LMS) on the network of basic education level (2) investigate on the efficiency of Learning Management System (LMS) on the network of basic education level (3) explore the effects of learning management on the network in learning achievement, discipline and attitude towards 5 subjects : Social Studies Religion and Culture, English ,Thai, Science and Mathematics of basic education level of Srinakharinwirot University Demonstration Prasarnmit School (Secondary) and 5 other schools under the jurisdiction of the Bangkok Metropolitan.

             The methods of the study were as follows:

             1. Analyse, design, and develop the server and the network.

             2. Analyse, design, and develop the Learning Management System (LMS) on the network. 

            3. Try out the Learning Management System (LMS) on the network. The subject of this study were students of Srinakharinwirot University Demonstration Prasarnmit School (Secondary) and students from 5 other schools under the jurisdiction of the Bangkok Metropolitan which are in the cooperation network with Srinakharinwirot University Demonstration Prasarnmit School (Secondary). Other schools are Wichutit School, Naknawa Upatham School, Suwitserinusorn School, Ban Bang Kar Pi School and Prachaniwet School. The students were in Semester 2 of 2011 academic year. The sample group was specifically selected from 5 subjects : Social Studies Religion and Culture of Mathayomsuksa 2 , Foreign Languages of Mathayomsuksa 2, Thai Studies of Mathayomsuksa 3, Science of Mathayomsuksa 4 and Mathematics of Mathayomsuksa 5.Each subject was simply random for 1 class. Total students selected for this study were 1,102. Research equipment was Learning Management System (LMS) on the network, learning discipline test and attitude test.

                The result of this study indicated that :

                1. The developed Learning Management system on the network consists of :

                    1.1 The server and network for Learning Management System on the network of basic education level and Video streaming system can process multiple tasks at the same time and can support 500 concurrent users.

                   1.2 Administration Learning Management System of Moodle 2.1.1 which consists of curriculum management system, creation of lessons system, testing and assessment system, learning supportive system, data search system, Video on demand system, Video broadcast, and Module of discipline can support learning achievement, discipline and learners attitude towards Learning Management on the network

                2. The efficiency of Learning Management System on the network of basic education level was evaluated by experts based on e-learning system and the result was rated as more efficient. The system was also evaluated by students in which they used both inside and outside of the network following the learning efficiency evaluation outline in the form of e-learning and the result was also rated as more efficient.

               3. The effects of LMS on the networks:

                   3.1 Students learning achievement was higher than before at a statistically significance level of .01.

                   3.2 The learning discipline after the study in Science and Mathematics was higher than before the study at a statistically significance level of .01.

                   3.3 The attitude towards Learning Management System on the network was good.
