Abstract

Climate change, biodiversity loss, increasing pollution, and social inequality represent negative impacts to the world. Such impacts have been attracting global community attention as people, property, infrastructure, and economic activities are under existential threat. Searching for proper resolution, thus, has been a critical and urgent issue during the past decades. Apart from sustainable banking, sustainable capital market is also seen as the light at the end of the tunnel. To drive economic growth, capital markets do play a vital role by channeling savings and investment between investors and corporates. Thus, promoting sustainable capital markets where public and private capital are mobilized to finance sustainable projects that benefit all stakeholders and people in the community can be one of the key factors to enable a successful effort to improve the adoption of sustainability development practices individually, nationally and globally. Moreover, Thailand has been putting greater emphasis on embedding sustainability concept into capital market development goals where all stakeholders, regulators in particular, have been working closely to improve infrastructures that facilitate sustainable capital market development for over a decade.
