บทคัดย่อ

วัตถุประสงค์ของการศึกษานี้คือทำการวิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการใช้จ่ายทางการทหารและการเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจ โดยใช้ข้อมูลพาแนลจำนวน 73 ประเทศจากทั้งหมด 5 ทวีป ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ.2531 ถึงปีพ.ศ.2552 ผลการศึกษาพบว่า (1) การใช้จ่ายทางการทหารและการเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจของกลุ่มประเทศทั้งหมด 73 ประเทศ กลุ่มประเทศแอฟริกาและกลุ่มประเทศยุโรปมีความสัมพันธ์เชิงดุลยภาพระยะยาว (2) สำหรับกลุ่มประเทศทั้งหมด 73 ประเทศและกลุ่มประเทศยุโรปมีความเป็นเหตุเป็นผลกันในระยะสั้น ในลักษณะทิศทางเดียวจากการใช้จ่ายทางการทหารไปยังการเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจ (3) ในกรณีกลุ่มประเทศแอฟริกามีความเป็นเหตุเป็นผลกันในระยะสั้นในลักษณะสองทิศทางระหว่างการใช้จ่ายทางการทหารและการเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจ

Relationship between Military Expenditure and Economic GrowthUsing Panel Data

The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between military expenditure and economic growth by using panel data 73 countries from 5 regions during the period of 1988 to 2009. The results showed that (1) Military expenditure and economic growth have a long-term equilibrium relationship for the whole sample. From the group of African countries and the group of European countries, (2) For the whole sample, and the group of European countries, there was an unidirectional short-run causality running from military expenditure to economic growth, (3) For the group of African countries, it was a bidirectional short-run causality between military expenditure and economic growth.
