The Development of a Web Application Based on the Constructivist Approach to Enhance Active Learning of Undergraduates

Abstract

In this research investigation, the researcher has the objectives to develop  1) a web application based on the constructivist approach to enhance active learning of undergraduates; and to examine 2) active learning behaviors after the study with the constructed web application. The sample population consisted of thirty-three first year students in the Certificate Program in Dental Technician at the School of Dental Technology, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University using the technique of simple random sampling by drawing lots. The research instruments consisted of 1) an application web based on the constructivist approach to enhance active learning and 2) an evaluation form of active learning behaviors after the study with the constructed web application.

Findings showed that 1) a web application based on the constructivist approach to enhance active learning for undergraduates exhibited quality at a very good level
(M = 4.61, SD = 0.61). 2) The undergraduates under investigation after the study with the constructed web application exhibited active learning behaviors at a good level (M = 4.10, SD = 0.62).
