Kinship Terms of Thai KohKongin The Kingdomof Cambodia

Abstract

This research aimed to study the system of kinship terms and culture of Thai kohkong in The Kingdom of Cambodia. The research found that Thai KohKongis a Thai group who isliving in Koh Kong province, The Kingdom of Cambodia.They have language and culture as their Identity. They use kinship terms with 54 words. All of the kinship terms were categorized according to kinship structure with two types that single kinship terms 27 words and compound kinship
terms 27 words. There are elements of the classification system based on semantic 9 dimensions, namely, pacentage, gender, age, marriage, new marriage, husband or wifeand euphemism. The kinship terms of Thai Koh Kong reflected the multidimensional dimension of culture, namely, system of bloodlines, language usage and using kinship terms as pronouns and expressions.
