The Otherness In Short Story “Singto-Nhok-Kok”

The objective of this paper is to examine identities and the creation of otherness appeared in a short story “Singto-Nhok-Kok”, the unconventional lion. The result of the study reveals that three main identities of otherness within the story are as follow; 1) the otherness which derived from gender differences 2) the otherness developed with a family and 3) the otherness within the community and society. From the text, otherness was created through two channels as follow; 1) the otherness created through religions and beliefs 2) the otherness created through social norm and civil value the influence of central government.
