The Development of Learning Community Model in Developing Reading Skills of Thai Majored Students Enrolling in the One Curriculum One Community Course

The current study aimed to 1) investigate problems and needs regarded to reading skill development of students in Ban Hua Kua School under Maha Sarakham Primary Education Service Area Office 1, 2) to develop a learning community model for Thai Majored students enrolling in the One Curriculum One Community Course used in the development of reading skills of the students in Ban Hua Kua School using brain-Based learning approach, and 3) to study students’ satisfaction levels toward the developed Brain-based learning model. The results of the study were as follows. 1. The analysis of problems and needs of reading skill development among students in Ban Hua Kua School under Maha Sarakham Primary Education Service Area Office 1 indicated that problems and needs in reading skill development were found at high level ( = 4.44). The consideration of each aspects of needs and problems indicated that teacher aspect was found at very high level ( = 4.84) and learning activity aspect was found at very high level ( = 4.66). 2. An analysis on the development of a learning community model for Thai Majored students enrolling in the One Curriculum One Community Course used in the development of reading skills of the students in Ban Hua Kua School using brain-based learning approach showed the following results. 2.1 The learning community model of Thai language teaching Majored students enrolling in the One Curriculum One Community Course used in the development of reading skills of the primary school students using brain-based learning approach focused on guiding students to study background information, importance, patterns, and learning in 21st century.
Problems and needs of reading skill development should be studied in order to contribute reading
learning community through projects promoting literacy skills and community academic services. 2.2 The effects of the Learning Community Model of Thai Majored students enrolling in the One Curriculum One Community Course used in the development of reading skills of the primary school students using brain-based learning approach indicated that average grade 1-3 students’ score was at 7.56 which accounted for 75.56%. Moreover, 88.89 % of the students passed the set criteria at 75.56%. In addition, the average score of grade 4-6 students was found at 7.58 which accounted for 75.77%. 84.62 % of students passed the set criteria at 75.77%. 3. Students’ satisfaction toward the developed model was found at the high level ( = 4.28).
