Abstract

Pat Waing drum circle is a special types of Myanmar drums; it can simultaneously create rhythm as well as melody. Its tune is very melodious and beautiful similar to the sounds of the Harp Saung Gauk (Harp) and Gong Kyi Waing (gong circle). This qualitative research aimed at: examing the development of Pat Waing ensemble; and investigating the roles of Pat Waing drum circle in Saing Waing ensemble. Field data were collected. Through obserevations and interviews.
