Approaches for Academic Management Development of Rajchanakarin Consortium School Based on The Concept of Steam Education

This descriptive research aimed to: 1) study the need index of academic management development of Rajchanakarin Consortium based on the concept of STEAM Education and 2) propose approaches for academic management development of Rajchanakarin Consortium School based on the concept of STEAM Education. The population were the schools in Rajchanakarin Consortium consisting of 5 schools. The informants were School Directors, Deputy Directors Academic Affairs, Heads of Departments and teachers totally 217. The research instruments were rating-scaled questionnaires and rating-scaled appropriateness and possibility evaluation forms. The data were analyzed by frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, PNImodified and content analysis.
The results were as follows. 1) The need index of academic management development of Rajchanakarin Consortium School based on the concept of STEAM Education (PNImodified) was 0.303. The priority need index fell on development of learning processes, management of teaching and learning resources, the evaluation and curriculum development, respectively. 2) Approaches for academic management development of Rajchanakarin Consortium School based on the concept of STEAM Education development comprised 4 main approaches and 7 sub-approaches; main approaches were: 1) Set learning experiences that emphasize on transdisciplinary integration and Problem-Based Learning; 2) Provide and develop learning materials and learning resources that could be used to integrate knowledge, skills and students’ characteristics in every subjects and grade level through Problem-Based Learning and Project-Based Learning; 3) Define assessment criteria and style to assessment of knowledge integration and creating innovation skills; 4) Specify goal, purposes and approaches for learning experiences management in the curriculum that emphasize on Problem-Based Learning in order to help students apply the elements in STEAM Education to create innovations and solve real-life problems.
