Factors Influencing the Organizational Commitment Among Civil Servants in the Higher Education Commission

Abstract

This research aims to examine 1) the factor related to the job of the civil servants in the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), 2) their job satisfaction, 3) their organizational commitment, 4) compare the organizational commitment according to their personal factors, and 5) job and job satisfaction-related factors that influence OHEC civil servants’ organizational commitment. The determination of sample size by the author is based on Taro Yamane formula with the reliability of 95%. The sample group of 158 persons is achieved by means of the proportional stratified random sampling. The questionnaire is used as the research tool, while the data analysis is conducted using the statistics, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, One-Way ANOVA and Person’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. 


      According to the research results, 1) a moderate level of overall the factor related to the civil servants’ job is found. 2) The overall the civil servants’ job satisfaction is also found at a moderate level. 3) There is a high level of overall the organizational commitment. 4) Personal factors caused no difference of their organizational commitment. And 5) there is no difference with regard to the job and job satisfaction-related factors that influence OHEC civil servants’ organizational commitment. Besides, it is also found that OHEC civil servants’ job satisfaction is related to every aspect of the commitment to Office of the Higher Education Commission.
