Chiang Sean’s Textile Identity Creation of Chiang Rai Province Toward Value Added on Tourism Products

Abstract
This research aims to (1) study the context of textile in Chiang Saen, and (2) create the identity of Chiang Saen’s textile to increase the value of tourism products. According to studies, there are only 3 sub-districts in Chiang Saen still made textile: Wiang, Yonok and Sri Don Mun.
This study uses in-depth interview with key informants and stakeholder in Chiang Saen District by quota or random sampling method. Lai Kohpansao is selected because of the strange patterned, aesthetics and convey the identity of Chiang Saen. In addition, The five basic patterns consisted of Lai Kohpansao, Lai Seu-yoi, Lai Galae and Lai Dokmali. and Lai Kai Pla also have meaning to increase the value of tourism products. This pattern is related to the way of life and culture of Chiang Saen. The products can create the story and explain to tourists understanding and aware of textile’s products.
