Factors Influencing Tourists' Decisions to Attend International Table Tennis Event in Thailand
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to examine the factors influencing tourists' decisions to attend international sports events in Thailand. A qualitative research approach was employed, using in-depth interviews with tourists who attended international table tennis competitions. The primary informants consisted of 20 tourists with extensive experience traveling to attend international sports events. The findings reveal critical factors that influence tourists' decisions to select sports events.
The results indicate three key factors: “watching favorite athletes compete,” “ease of access,” and “quality of the venue.” Specifically, admiration for renowned athletes, convenience in travel, and satisfaction with the quality of facilities and amenities are major attractions that enhance tourists' satisfaction and positively impact their decisions to attend the events. This study provides valuable insights for relevant agencies to develop strategic plans to enhance the effectiveness of attracting sports tourists and to strengthen Thailand's image as a premier host for international sports events.
