The Results of the Development of Listening and Speaking skill in Learning area of Foreign Language (English Subject) for the Primary 3 Students of San Pa Tong (Suwannaratt Wittayakarn) School by Using Song and Games

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to determine the effectiveness of the learning management plan for developing listening and speaking skills in the English subject for primary 3/5 students at San Pa Tong (Suwannaratt Wittayakarn) School, using songs and games; 2) to compare the pre-test and post-test achievement scores; and 3) to study student satisfaction with the use of the learning management plan. The sample group consisted of 38 primary 3/5 students from San Pa Tong (Suwannaratt Wittayakarn) School, selected through purposive sampling, during the second semester of the academic year 2020. The research instruments included 8 English lesson plans for primary 3 students using songs and games, as well as a 20-item multiple-choice achievement test. Data analysis involved calculating means, percentages, and conducting t-tests.

The results of this research found that:

1. The efficiency of the lesson plan was determined to be 81.74/85.39, which exceeded the criteria (80/80).
2. The post-test scores were significantly higher than the pre-test scores at a statistical significance level of 0.05.
3. Students expressed satisfaction with the use of the learning management plan to improve their listening and speaking skills in English. The average result for learning activities in teachers' performance was 4.81, with a standard deviation (S.D) of 0.39. The teaching methods and materials received the highest level of satisfaction, with an average score of 4.77 and a standard deviation (S.D) of 0.42. Overall, the satisfaction level was found to be highly satisfactory.
