Creating an Online Database to be Used as a Fundamental for Sustainable Local Development

Abstract
The important objective of this article was 1) to report the findings from a lesson learned from a case of creating an online database to be used as a fundamental for sustainable local development in two pilot areas in Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son Provinces and, 2) to analyze and find conclusions whether it could be developed as a prototype for the same database in other areas or not. This online database preparation was based on the concepts of accessing easily, up to date, and local organizations could actually use it.
The results indicated that Microsoft Access and Quantum GIS were able to be efficiently used as tools to create an online database. Nevertheless, it was found that the weak point of this project operation that required to be improved was the amount of data which was not covered some issues that were benefits to the local administration.
