The development of reading comprehension ability by using the SQ4R reading technique for Prathom suksa 4 students. at Municipal School 4 (Amorn Sapianchai Uthit)

Abstract

This research aimed to study: 1) the learning management plan efficiency in the development of reading comprehension ability by using SQ4R reading technique, and 2) reading comprehension ability learning with the learning management plans for developing reading comprehension ability. The samples were 24 Prathomsuksa 4 Students at Municipal School 4 (Amorn Sapianchai Uthit), Semester 1, and Academic Year 2022, derived from the simple random sampling with the lottery. The research instruments contained: 1) 5 learning management plans in reading comprehension with SQ4R technique of each plan within 1 hour, totally 5 hours, by using 5 skill practice activities with learning management activities, 2) the reading comprehension test with 4 multiple-choices in 20 items, and 3) the reading comprehension ability test, scored with the scoring rubric, with the criterion assessment of 4 levels, covering best, good, moderate and improved levels.

            The research findings implied that: 1. the efficiency of reading comprehension learning management plans with SQ4R technique revealed at 81.22/82.29 higher than the setting criterion of 80/80, 2. Prathomsuksa 4 Students had the reading comprehension ability after learning with the learning management by SQ4R technique higher than before learning at the statistical significance of .05 level.
