Judiciary, Enthroned, and Coup d'État: A Critique and Observations on the Traditional Relationship and Legitimization of Coups in the Research of Prinya Thaewanarumitkul

Abstract
The legitimization of coups is essential in legal studies, political science, and social sciences. It is particularly relevant in Thailand, where coups occur frequently and repeatedly. The ‘Ending the Coup d'état through Legal Means and Reforming the Norms of the Thai Court' is an example of a study examining the relationship between the judiciary and coups, particularly regarding the legitimization of coups. This research attempts to explain the phenomenon of the judiciary's acceptance and legitimization of coups through traditional relationships in Thai society. However, the explanations presented in this research reflect the ambiguity of the relationship between the judiciary and the legitimization of coups based on traditional reasons in Thai society. It fails to consider the complex dimensions of the relationship between tradition and coups. This lack of clarity has led to academic discussions, and this article aims to present critiques and observations on the research regarding this issue.
