The development of music learning activities for young children by Carl Orff to promote music practice skills for early childhood students

The objectives of this study were 1) to develop the music learning activity packages for young children based on Carl Orff’s concept in order to meet the criteria of 80/80; 2) to compare between the pre- and post- music practical skills of students who studied with the music learning activity packages for young children based on Carl Orff’s concept; 3) to compare between the pre- and post- learning achievements of students who studied with the music learning activities packages for young children based on Carl Orff’s concept; 4) to study the satisfaction of students, who studied with the music learning activities packages for young children based on Carl Orff’s concept, towards the use the music learning activity packages. The sample of the study included 30 third-year early childhood students, selected by cluster random sampling, in semester 2 of academic 2020 at Joy Bilingual School in Surat Thani. The research instruments were five music learning activity packages for young children based on Carl Orff’s concept to promote music practical skills for early childhood students, a music learning achievement form consisting of 15 multiple-choice items of three distracters, a music practical skills assessment form of nine items from considering music practical skills based on Carl Orff’s concept and applying to the assessment of music practical skills, anda 10-item satisfaction questionnaire of students towards the use of the music learning activities packages for young children based on Carl Orff’s concept to promote music practicalAD skills for early childhood students. Data were analyzed by mean, percentage, standard deviation, and t-test.
The research findings were as follows. 1) The efficiencies of the developed music learning activity packages were 84.80/87.89 which meet the criteria of 80/80.
2) The post- music practical skills of the sample after studying with the activity packages were higher than before at a statistical significance level of .01. 3) The post- learning achievement of the sample was higher than before at a statistical significance level of .01. 4) Overall, the average satisfaction of the sample towards the use of the developed activity packages was in a high level
