Abstract

The objectives of this study were to study: 1) the relationship between occupational self-efficacy, organization-based self-esteem, and supervisor-based self-esteem with affective organizational commitment of hotel employees; and 2) the joint prediction of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The sample in this study was 184 Thai employees at the operational level working in 6 medium and large 4-star and 5-star hotels. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Statistics used in data analysis include percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results of the research found that 1) occupational self-efficacy, organization-based self-esteem and supervisor-based self-esteem were positively related to affective organizational commitment of employees of medium and large 4-star and 5-star hotels in Koh Samui District, Surat Thani province at .01 level of significance; and 2) organization-based self-esteem and occupational self-efficacy could jointly predict to affective organizational commitment of employees of medium and large 4-star and 5-star hotels in Koh Samui District, Surat Thani province around 34.5% at .001 level of significance.
