Abstract

This research aims to find the best daylight enhancing lighting model, according to the Illuminating Engineering Association of Thailand’s guideline (not less than 300 lux), for staff room renovation in Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative Arts Mahasarakham University.
The study was conducted through daylight simulation models performing under various room conditions according to the renovation plan then data was analyzed through the illuminance indicators from a DIALux program. The result reveals that the best lighting renovation model is a ceiling and partition adjustment model which has 123.70% of an annual average illuminance rate while before the renovation under the clear sky with direct sunlight condition and decreased to 121.91% under the overcast sky condition. On the illuminance uniformity indicator (not less than 0.6), before renovating the room has 0.401 under the clear sky with direct sunlight condition and decreased to 0.332 under the overcast sky condition. The model is proved to be effective in enhancing the daylighting of the room under a clear sky with direct sunlight condition since if cans increased the illuminance to 750 lux. On the other hand, under the overcast sky condition the model can only offer 300 lux of illuminance which means the lighting must be added under the case.
