Competency Development Model for Innovation Creation in Online Learning Management to Replace Traditional Classrooms of Higher Education Instructors

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) analyze the current situation, problems, and needs of instructors in developing online learning management innovation; (2) develop a teacher’s competency development model for producing online learning management innovation; (3) study the results of the use of the teacher’s competency development model to create online learning management innovation; and (4) transcribe the lessons learned in the successful development of an instructor assistant system created as the online learning management innovation. The sample group consisted of university instructors, operational staff, and the students were obtained by the purposive sampling selection method. The research instruments included a questionnaire, development models, quality assessment form, competency assessment form, innovation assessment form and lesson learned transcription record form. The data was analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and content analysis. The research results revealed that (1) the practical level of the online learning management development of target group teachers was at a high level and the expectation level was at the highest level. The staff in the target groups operated to support the development of online learning management at a high level, and their expectations were at a high level. The students used laptop computers the most for online learning. It showed that there were the needs of internet sim card/internet signal the most and the problem of internet access seemed to be found the most. (2) The development model consisted : 1) principles and rationale; 2) objective of model; 3) development scope; 4) characteristics model; 5) development process; 6) roles of those involved; 7) measurement and assessment; 8) result. The quality of the model was at a high level. (3) The results indicated that the competency of teachers in the target group showed progressive. The students' opinions towards the online learning management innovation were at a high level. (4) lessons learned in the successful of the teacher assistant system consisted of: 1) cost analysis; 2) team development operation; 3) common understanding creation; 4) collaborative work; 5) knowledge exchange and 6) reflection.
