Huayanjing jinshizizhang: A Philosophical Translation in Thai and New Approach to Understanding Avataṃsaka (3)

Abstract

This part of the research aims to study and demonstrate the characteristics of dialectics of Avataṃsaka. The result of the study showed that the dialectics of Avataṃsaka is not merely expressed in this way: no matter what forms attribute to gold, as Theravada understands, but also is enhanced far more than to the degree of Tathāgatôtpattisaṃbhava to assert firmly that no matter what forms attribute to gold, for gold innately inhabits in our consciousness as a priori condition. As all understandings on “emptiness” (空性) rendered by the golden lion attribute to all sattavas, likewise do all understandings on on “emptiness” attribute to all Buddhas, since it does not exist any “duality” (二相) between “One Mind” (一心) of all tathāgatas and “ālayavijñāna” (阿賴耶識) to return to “tathāgata-jñāna”(如來智慧) which is identical with “prakṛti-prabhāsvara-citta” (自性淸淨心) where there is neither “āgata” (coming) nor “gata” (going), neither increasing (anūnatvā) nor decreasing (apūrṇatva). It is accordingly named as “bhūtatathatā” (thusness) that manifests “pariniṣpanna-svabhāva” (圓成實性) as the highest state of totality in the Realm of One Dharma (獨一法界) in the theory of “tathāgata-garbha” (如來藏). Thus, it was be claimed as the “Perfect of Doctrine of the One Vehicle” (一乘圓教) by Avataṃsaka.
