Interpreting Techniques for Using Parametric and Nonparametric Statistics in Social Sciences Research

Abstract
Parametric statistics are inferential statistics for testing hypothesis and estimating the population characteristic called the parameter. Nonparametric statistics are used to test hypothesis that do not test the parameter, and the population distribution does not need to be normal. Parametric statistics are popular statistics which used in social sciences research, such as t-test, analysis of variance, correlation and regression. Nonparametric statistic frequently used in research is Chi square. Using statistics for data analysis base on objective research, numbers of samples and data from measurement. Principles for data interpreting are the interpretation should be in accordance with research objective, the researcher should use simple and understandable language, interprete the numeric appeared and focus only on key findings. The researcher should have knowledge and understand basic assumptions for the use of statistics and data interpretation correctly. Interpreting techniques for using statistics in research are very important because they will make the research are accurate and reliable
