Musical Identity in the Yao Healing ceremony of the “Tai-Taad Ethnic group in Nakhon Phanom Province”

Abstract

Tai-Taad ethnic group in Nakhon Phanom province Was registered as the 9th ethnic group in Nakhon Phanom Province on August 31, 2022, with support from local agencies in collaboration with Kwan Jam. of the Tai-Taad community, which has worked together to push for more than 40 years. The study of  “Musical Identity in the Yao Healing Ceremony of the Tai-Taad Ethnic Group in Nakhon Phanom Province”  aims to study the history and musical identity in the Yao Healing Ceremony of the Tai-Taad Ethnic Group. It is a qualitative research study. The researcher collected data by observing and participating. and do not participate. In-depth interviews with the target group for the study, which were 11 people from the Tai-Taad ethnic group who lived in the area of Ban Nong Bua, Village No. 5, Narat Khwai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Phanom Province, were then analyzed and presented using a descriptive process. The results of the research study found that the history of the Tai-Taad ethnic group has a total of five migration points. Found the practice of Yao rituals for treating diseases that show the identity of the ethnic group. It is reflected through the dress, language used, and ritual accessories. In particular, the music in the rituals expresses the identity of the Tai-Taad ethnic group through the form and structure of the songs. Characteristics of melody The colors of the musical instruments, the range of voices, and the chants in the Tai-Taad at dialect, everything mentioned above is identity of Tai-Taad ethnic group
