Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop innovations in dual system school management in Thailand based on the concept of a career-related programme. The study applied a mixed-method approach. The sample group comprised 226 dual system schools under supervision of the Office of the Basic Education Commission for quantitative research and randomized with a stratified random sampling technique. For qualitative research, the sample group comprised an international school with a career-related programme, selected by purposive sampling. Key informants included two school administrators and one curriculum coordinator. The research instruments included a questionnaire, an interview form and an evaluation form to assess the feasibility and appropriateness of innovation. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, standard deviation, PNImodified and analytic induction.

The research findings revealed that the innovative school management, called Career-collaborated Compass (3C) comprise three main concepts: (1) CAREER curriculum development through a collaboration between the school and external organizations, covering both general and career-related subjects; (2) COLLABORATED career teaching and learning, carried out through both the school and external businesses, organizations, or institutions in an integrated manner with joint   management of time and teacher workload; and (3) CAREER compass evaluation, for both learning achievement and learning outcome.
