Development of Internal Quality Assurance System for Pilot Schools within Chiang Mai Education Sandbox

The objectives of this study emphasized 1) examining problems, needs, as well as guidelines for developing the internal quality assurance system for pilot schools,
2) developing and investigate the internal quality assurance system for pilot schools, and 3) assessing the internal quality assurance system for pilot schools within Chiang Mai Education sandbox. The sample size included 98 school administrators, teachers with the responsibility of educational quality assurance, and qualified experts.
The data were collected through public hearings, document synthesis, workshop, lesson learned, interviews, including group discussion with the analysis of mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The results showed as follows:
1) The problems revealed that most pilot schools had not set educational standards with their own goals and in accordance with the context yet. They had an intention to raise awareness to stakeholders participating in authentic development and development guidelines. Moreover, there should have the conceptual development of internal quality assurance, and there is systematic educational quality audit; 2)
the development of the internal quality assurance system for pilot schools within Chiang Mai Education sandbox were divided into three parts; 2.1) seven operational steps consisted of setting educational standards; writing an educational development plan, proceeding according to the plan, organize assessment and quality audit, monitoring performance, reporting self-assessment as well as creating quality culture; 2.2) there were three groups of educational standards consistent with educational achievement; and 2.3) the guidelines for supervision, monitoring and auditing of the driving committee and related agencies showed that the system audit of the internal quality assurance system for pilot schools within Chiang Mai Education sandbox by the qualified experts had accuracy and suitability at a high level; and
3) the results of the quality assurance system assessment in pilot schools within Chiang Mai Education sandbox by the public hearings had accuracy, appropriateness, feasibility and overall usefulness were at a high level.
