The Priority Needs in Developing Blended Teaching Competencies of Private Primary School Teachers in Bangkok

Abstract

Nowadays, fast forward innovation and technology makes social changed rapidly. Teaching strategies are then transformed as well. Hence, teachers are necessarily required to proactively develop their knowledge, skills and attributes and conduct teachings which are relevant for those changes. This research aimed to study the current state, desirable state and needs of developing blended teaching competencies of private primary school teachers in Bangkok. The informants consisted of 211 people including school directors, deputy school directors, heads of learning department and primary school teachers. Data were collected using a questionnaire and then analyzed by finding percentage, mean, standard deviation and priority needs index. The results showed that the first priority need of developing teachers’ blended teaching competency was a technical skill, followed by quality, adaptive skill and mindset respectively. These research findings emphasize the importance of policies that expand knowledge and abilities of using technology as learning supports and interventions in the 21st century.
