CURRENT STATES, DESIRABLE STATES, AND PRIORITY NEEDS OF DEVELOPING HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS MANAGEMENT IN THAILAND ACCORDING TO INTERNATIONALIZATION CONCEPT

The objectives of this research were to study current and desirable states as well as priority needs of developing higher education institutions management in Thailand according to the concept of internationalization. The research applied quantitative analysis. The population was 155 higher education institutions under Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) whereas sample size was 111 randomly selected by utilizing stratified random sampling technique. The respondents were the institution presidents and top management who were primarily responsible for internationalization. Research tool was questionnaire. In total, survey responses were received from 53 institutions. Then, data were analyzed by percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation, and PNI modified.
The research results revealed that current state of higher education institutions management in Thailand based on the concept of internationalization was generally performed at moderate level (x̄ = 2.686) in which Curriculum management yielded the highest mean (x̄ = 2.707) followed by Academic service management (x̄ = 2.658). In addition, overall desirable state was found at high level (x̄ = 3.933); Curriculum management showed the highest mean (x̄ = 3.945) followed by Academic service management (x̄ = 3.907). Regarding priority needs of higher education institutions management, overall PNImodified value was 0.464 while those of Academic service management and Curriculum management were 0.470 and 0.458 respectively.
