Abstract

This article  aims to study about the concepts of  governmental reform of the King Rama V, especially in a result of  his trips to Singapore, Java and India between 1870 and 1872. From the foregoing, To conclude that the King Rama V drew some lessons from his experiences in visiting Singapore, Java and India between 1870 and 1872 pertinent to the government reforms which he wanted to carry out in Siam. There were two primary goals: 1) The country had quickly to be developed and modernized, and 2) Power had to be centered in an absolute monarch.

บทความนี้ต้องการศึกษาแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับการปฏิรูปการปกครองของพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้า รัชกาลที่ 5  จากการเสด็จประพาสเมืองสิงคโปร์ ชวา และอินเดีย ในช่วงต้นรัชกาลของพระองค์ระหว่าง พ.ศ.2413 – 2415 ซึ่งสามารถสรุปเป็นบทเรียนและประสบการณ์ที่ได้ สำหรับปฏิรูปการปกครองบ้านเมืองของสยามเป็นหลักการใหญ่ได้ 2 ประการ คือ 1. ต้องพัฒนาประเทศไปสู่ความทันสมัย (Modernization) อย่างรวดเร็ว และ 2. ต้องรวมอำนาจเข้าสู่ศูนย์กลางในแบบระบอบสมบูรณาญาสิทธิราชย์
