The Influence of Sustainable Tourism Development in Pattaya, Chonburi Province

Abstract
The objective of this research was to study attitudes on economic, social, environmental and community factors influencing sustainable tourism development in Pattaya, Chonburi Province. Quantitative technique was employed in this study and questionnaire was used to collect data. The questionnaire was distributed to 400 Thai tourists in this process. The results of this research were as follows: the majority of Thai tourists were female, ages ranging from 25 to 34 years old, and single. They were employees of private companies, had a monthly income of over THB25,001, and were resident in Bangkok. Their attitudes concerning the environmental and social attributes of sustainable tourism were at a very good level, whereas attitudes toward the economic and community attributes of sustainable tourism were at a good level. Sustainable tourism development was at a favorable level. The results of the testing hypotheses were as follows: Sustainable tourism concerning community, social and economic attributes could predict sustainable tourism development in Pattaya, Chonburi Province at about 31.5 percent with statistical significance at the .05 level. The community attribute of sustainable tourism had the most positive influence when predicting sustainable tourism development, followed by social and economic attributes.
