THE EXPECTATIONS OF FOREIGN TOURISTS STAYING AT HOSTELS, MUEANG DISTRICT, CHIANG MAI PROVINCE

Abstract
The objectives of this research are to study the demographic characteristics of foreign tourists who come to stay at hostels and to study the expectations of foreign tourists who stay at hostels in Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. Data was collected from the questionnaire of foreign tourists staying at hostels in Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, a total of 400 people, analyzed the data by using statistical software packages.
The study indicated that most respondents are male between the ages of 18-27 years, they have a bachelor's degree. Income is less than 10,000 baht, most of them are students. There is the greatest expectation of safety while staying in the hostel. Foreign tourists have overall expectations of using hostels in terms of personnel service providers, location and room characteristics at the highest level of expectation, respectively Therefore, hostel operators should give priority for services that meet the expectations of tourists, such as shared dormitory rooms which have territory and there are curtains to cover the bed, food service is clean and delicious, and security services such as CCTV.
