A Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Learning and Innovation Skills of Student at University of Phayao

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) examine the suitability of the learning and innovation skills indicators; 2) analyze the confirmatory factor of University of Phayao students' Learning Skills and Innovation Model. The sample was 600 students at University of Phayao, who had studied in General Education Courses and selected by Stratified Random Sampling. The research instruments were the constructed 5 – level rating scale assessments of 1) the suitability of the learning and innovation skills; 2) the learning and innovation skills. Data was analyzed by median, interquartile range and second order confirmatory factor analysis.

The results of this research found that: 1) Learning and Innovation Skills Indicators of the students of University of Phayao are consist of 4 components: Critical thinking, working together Creativity and Communication. The components are also consisting of 10 indicators, when considering the suitability of the indicators, it was found that, there are high level of suitability (Mdn = 4.000, IQR = 0.500-1.500) for 9 indicators as follows: Receives information for decision making, Linkage of information, Source of information, The abilities to work with others, Discussing ideas within the team, Allocation of duties within the team Innovative initiatives, Fluent in thinking and Communication abilities which has the appropriateness at the highest level (Mdn = 5.000, IQR = 1.000) for 1 indicator that was obtaining and interpreting information; 2) Learning and Innovation Skills Indicator (4Cs), there were consistent with the empirical information (Chi-square = 30.399, df = 22, p-value = 0.109, RMSEA = 0.025, CFI = 0.999 and SRMR = 0.007) and structurally correct where the element weight were statistically significant at the .01 level at all indicators.
