Economy and Society from the Covid-19 Situation of People in Maha Sarakham

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the economy and society in the context of the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) 2) to examine the adaptation to the new way of life (New normal) 3) to investigate guidelines for solving problems and mitigating economic and social impacts resulting from the COVID-19 epidemic in Maha Sarakham Municipality. This research was quantitative approach, collecting data through a survey distributed to 400 participants. The data was analyzed using the SPSS software package.

The results of this research found that:

1. The economic and social impact of the COVID-19 epidemic was found to be at a moderate level, hindering individuals from performing their usual work, with the greatest impact observed on household expenditures.
2. Individuals demonstrated various forms of adaptation to the COVID-19 epidemic. These included wearing hygienic masks to prevent infection, washing hands with soap before and after cooking, occasionally using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and having an understanding of social distancing. However, some individuals still did not believe in taking actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, in line with the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Public Health.
3. The study also identified guidelines for addressing the economic and social impacts resulting from the COVID-19 epidemic. These guidelines encompassed measures to solve the economic impact, such as providing career advancement opportunities and implementing measures to alleviate the cost of living.
