Promoting The Faith for Children by Parents According to The Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia. Case Study: Mother of Peace Church, Nakhonsawan Diocese.

Abstract

This research aims to study : 1) Present situation, condition of duties in the promotion of faith for children by parents at Mother of Peace Church in Nakornsawan Diocese, according to the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia, and 2) Factors for promoting faith for children by parents at Mother of Peace Church in Nakornsawan Diocese, according to the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia. It is a qualitative research. Informant groups are 10 Christian families at Mother of Peace Church in Nakhonsawan Diocese. We got the data by simple random sampling. The data was collected by using semi-structured interview and group discussion with 7 experts. Content analysis to the statistics given by the informants, including frequency and percentage, was used analyze to what extent percents of at Mother of Peace Church in Nakornsawan Diocese practice their duty, to promote the faith in their children by parents and factors for promoting faith to children in accordance with the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia. Research result 1. Parents have served as role models and have a huge influence in communicating their faith and beliefs to the children, according to the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia, especially in the following A) Practicing religious activities, receiving Baptism, receiving Holy Communion, regularly attending the Eucharistic Celebration and Vigil B) Respect for adults, being a companion; consideration for others; knowing how to say thank you and how to apologize, respecting and honoring others; openness to a variety of men and women and accepting differences; and recognizing limitations of oneself and others C) Devotion and doing works of mercy D) Putting Love and justice into practice, not favoring the wrong people, standing for truth and goodness in society and E) Protecting and using natural resources and the environment economically and cost-effectively, sustainable consumption, and avoiding a throw- away culture. 2. Important factors for promoting faith in children, according to the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia include A) Internal factors, such as love, belief, faith and B) External factors, such as culture, tradition, education, occupation, technological media, putting faith into practice in everyday life –factors that help to promote Christian belief in the way of life of the Karen (Pgaz k’ nyau) tribes.
