Human Resource Management Role in Elder Worker Recognition Creating and Elder Worker Management in Thai Manufacturing Industry

Abstract
Thailand has entered the aging society nowadays. In 2010, the aging population has more than 10 percent of the total population. Meanwhile, the labor market is shortage; elder workers would be a solution that could solve this issue. Thus, Human resource management department, the organizational strategic partner, has to crate the elder work awareness. This research aimed to study the role of the human resources management in creating elder worker recognition and managing an aging workforce in Thai manufacturing industry. The data were collected by interviewing 4 human resource management executives in manufacturing industry. Purposive Sampling was employed to select the key informant. The findings revealed that the human resource management department played a critical role in socializing the corporate values and culture through work activities and work systems that focus on building a relationship between new generations and elder workers; such as coaching, succession planning, labor relations activities, and so on. For the currently role of managing aging workforce, the human resources management department consists of three areas that were staffing, compensation management, and training and development.
