A Comparison of Cost and Return between Fruit Farm Only and Agro Tourism

Abstract
The purpose of this article is to compare the costs and return between fruits farm only businesses with agro tourism businesses in Rayong province. The results benefit the government sector and other stakeholders in increasing farmer’s income by introducing agro tourism. In-depth interviews with 7 owners of agro tourism family businesses were conducted to collect data. The results show that when farmers change from fruits farm business only to agro tourism business, their income increase 2.09 times when the market price for fruits is normal and up to 12.17 times when the market price is low. The ratio of income indicated that agro tourism has helped generate income for farmers as the market price of fruits is low. In addition, farmers reduce transportation costs because tourists can purchase fruits directly at their farm.
