Changes of the provisions regarding Regent in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2560 (2017)

Abstract
The provisions regarding Regent in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2560 (2017) are considerably different from those in the previous Constitutions. Firstly, the King may or may not appoint a Regent. Secondly, should it happen that the King has not appointed a Regent or cannot appoint
a Regent, but the Privy Council is of the opinion that it is necessary to have a Regent appointed without delay; despite not having the time to properly inform the King and await the royal decision. In such case, the Privy Council shall propose the name of the person as previously determined by the King for such a circumstance to the President of the National Legislative Assembly. The appointment of the proposed person as Regent shall be made through the announcement of the National Legislative Assembly, in the name of His Majesty the King. Thirdly, the Regent appointed may be one person or several persons forming
a council. Finally, A Regent who has previously been appointed and made
the solemn declaration need not make the solemn declaration again.
