A Study of Need Assessment for the Development of Learning Community to Promote Teachers' Ability in Knowledge Management in Sukhothai Primary Education Service Area Office 1

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study the need for the development of professional learning community and 2) to study  the need for developing teachers' competency in knowledge management of teachers in Sukhothai Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. The samples were 285 teachers under Sukhothai Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 by using the Taro Yamane's table with  95% reliability. A multi-state random sampling technique was applied. The data were collected by using questionnaires and analyzed by using mean, standard deviation and the need index, Priority Needs Index using the Modified Priority Needs Index technique. The results revealed that 1) The highest need for the development of professional learning community was the mutual learning exchange, followed by reflections on performance, support and co-leadership respectively. 2) The highest need for development of teachers’ ability in knowledge management was creating and seeking knowledge, followed by setting learning goals and storing knowledge respectively.
