The Potential Development in English Skills for OTOP Group in Phitsanulok Province to Promote Tourism, and Prepare for AEC Readiness

Abstract

The research aims 1) to study the ability to use English of OTOP group in Phitsanulok Province, 2) to develop the English language skills of the OTOP group, and 3) to analyze skills and ability to use English in basic communication of the OTOP group who were selected of 20 people from Bangrakam OTOP group in Phitsanulok province. The research found that 1) the ability of the OTOP group in Phitsanulok province overall was at a low level with 34.75 percent, 2) the potential development in English skills was proceeded in 4 steps: first, a survey of the need on the potential development in English skills for the OTOP group was at the highest level; second, the development of training document on the potential development in English skills overall was suitable at the highest level; third, the training on the potential development in English skills for the OTOP group used 3 teaching procedures, namely content presentation, practice, and language usage for communication; and fourth, the evaluation of training on the potential development in English skills for the OTOP group was satisfying at high level, and 3) both skills and ability to use English in basic communication of the OTOP group after the training was higher than before with statistical significance at level of .01.
