Abstract

The objectives of this research were: (1) to study elements of organizational culture of Christian higher educational institutions in Thailand, (2) to analyze the relationship between servant leadership, organizational cultures, and organizational commitment; and (3) to study the predictability of servant leadership and organizational culture on organizational commitment of personnel in the instituions. Samples were 312 full-time instructors and supporting staff. The questionnaire as a research tool was comprised of three parts: servant leadership, organizational culture, and organizational commitment. The reliability of each part of the questionnaire, demonstrated in the form of Cronbach alpha coefficients, was 0.92, 0.98, and 0.89 respectively. Inferential statistics include factor analysis and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis.
The research findings showed that the components of organizational culture in private higher education institutions under the COT included collaboration, adherence to the doctrine, relationship between leader and followers, management, and innovative strategic success. The significant findings are servant leadership, organizational culture, and organizational commitment. Moreover, servant leadership and organizational culture were significant predictors of organizational commitment. Their combination could account for 24.10% of the variance of organizational commitment. Organizational culture was the best predictor of organizational commitment. From the research findings, it would suggest that the executives in private higher education institutions under the COT should pay more attention to organizational culture, develop an approach that focuses on enhancing the organizational culture, and develop personnel to have the characteristics of leaders at all levels and should be trained to be servant leaders as well.
