Career Preparation of Prisoners Before Release from Prison: A Systematic Literature Review

This study is a systematic literature review on the vocational preparation of prisoners before their release from prison in Thailand. The research includes studies published in both Thai and English between 2016 and 2023. The literature was retrieved from four databases: (1) TCI, (2) EBSCO, (3) KU E-Thesis, and (4) TDC (ThaiLIS Digital Collection). The systematic review process involved three key components: a research screening form, a research quality assessment form, and a data extraction table. Research selection was conducted by the researchers and experts, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency and percentage, along with qualitative content analysis.
The study identified a total of 42 research articles, of which only 7 met the inclusion criteria. Based on the findings, the key guidelines for vocational preparation of prisoners before release in Thailand include
1) surveying the needs of relevant stakeholders
2) analyzing data on the knowledge transfer model through learning centers to prepare prisoners for employment
3) conducting study visits to enhance knowledge about learning centers
4) designing a learning center
5) providing skills training and knowledge enhancement to better prepare prisoners for career opportunities after release.
