A NEEDS ASSESSMENT OF ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN PHETCHABURI PROVINCE BASED ON THE CONCEPT OF COMMUNITY CAPACITY BUILDING COMPETENCIES

The purpose of this research was to study a need assessment of academic management of elementary schools in Phetchaburi province based on the concept of community capacity building competencies. This study was descriptive research. The research instrument used in this study was a questionnaire on the condition of academic management of elementary schools in Phetchaburi province based on the concept of community capacity building competencies. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and PNImodified. The informants consisted of 113 people including school administrators, elementary school teachers, and middle school teachers from elementary schools under Phetchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1.
The findings showed that the overall actual state and the desirable state of academic management of elementary schools in Phetchaburi province based on the concept of community capacity building competencies was at the high level (x̄ = 3.90, SD = 0.486) and at the highest level (x̄ = 4.54, SD = 0.464), respectively. The highest priority was measurement and evaluation (PNImodified = 0.186), followed by curriculum development (PNImodified = 0.177), and the lowest priority was instructional management (PNImodified = 0.176). And the highest priority of community capacity building competencies for academic management was resource mobilization.
