The Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Law launched a policy initiative in 2012 that led to the inaugural publication of the Journal of Governance (previously the Journal of Political Science and Law), ISSN 2286-9328. Rajabhat University of Kalasin (at that time)

The journal "Political Science and Law Kalasin University" has been certified by the Thai Journal Citation Index Center (TCI) as meeting the requirements for publication quality standard certification in Group 2. This certification can be submitted for quality certification later in 2015.

Subsequently, in an attempt to consistently satisfy criteria and improve the quality of publications, the journal's editorial team sought guidance from the Thai Journal Citation Index Center (TCI). On September 13, 2016, the findings were released, pending Group 1's certification of the academic quality requirements.

The name change of the journal was notified to the Thai Journal Citation Index Center (TCI) on November 8, 2016. Change the journal's name to Governance Journal starting with the fifth year's issue 2, which runs from July to December 2016.

The TCI Center has completed the 5th round of quality assessment for academic journals in the TCI database. The Governance Journal, Kalasin University has been accredited as TCI Tier 2. This certification is valid from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2029.
