THE EFFECTS OF RESEARCH BASED LEARNING IN DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING AND INNOVATION SKILLS IN THE 21ST CENTURY IN HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY STUDENTS

Abstract
The research purposes were 1) to study research based learning for development of learning and innovation skills in the 21st century 2) to study the results of research based learning for development of learning and innovation skills in the 21st century in hospitality industry students. This research is One Group Post-test only design. Participants in this research were 26 hospitality industry senior students who registered in BA4403 Business Research Methodology. Research. Instruments were lesson plan, learning and innovation skills in the 21st century questionnaire, and structured interview form. Quantitative analysis by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis was used for qualitative study. The result shows that 1) research based learning for development of learning and innovation skills in the 21st century for 45 hours lesson plan operates using 8 steps of research process as follow; firstly, identify the problem and set research topic, secondly do the review literature, then formulate research objective, variables, and hypothesis, followed by design research methodology, collect data, conclusion and do the publication. 2) Research based learning can develop learning and innovation skills in the 21st century in hospitality industry students. The results show that participants obtained a learning and innovation skills overall score in the highest level with mean 4.24, and when individual aspects were considered, creativity and innovation were in highest level ( = 4.41), communication and participation were at a high level ( = 4.20), and critical thinking and problem solving were at a high level ( = 4.15)
